A single minor news story neatly presents some of the best reasons both U.S. congregations and non-U.S. bishops should think twice about forging formal ecclesial relationships--reasons that have nothing to do with homosexuality or the authority of scripture.

The CT headline is telling as well, summing up only half of the problem.
