    I'm still dreaming. Would cut the time from Austin to Houston in half... But there's something in my head about pigs flying and hell freezing...

    Yeah, somehow trains are a luxury and cars are a necessity in the minds of Congress, the media, the public... On the other hand, even flying pigs sounds like better transportation policy than we've got right now.

    I'd cry myself to not-able-to-sleep thinking about high-speed rail every time I'm on a 12-hour Amtrak ride to Kansas, but I'm cynical enough to realize no U.S. government is ever going to agree with me about prioritizing high-speed rail. Probably because they don't have to use our current rail system.
