Interfaith Power and Light has launched an online store for eco-conscious congregations.
If you've visited this blog before, you may already know that I'm deeply skeptical both of trying to save the earth by buying different, cooler stuff AND of the idea that the creation care movement will lead to a significant change in the U.S. religious and/or political landscape.
However, as Glenn Hurowitz reports, Greater Washington IFL finds that 30 percent of congregations that install LED exit signs end up getting involved also in bona fide environmental activism. That's an exciting statistic, and while I fear that the movement will always be largely about individual choices (an emphasis rather ingrained in at least the evangelical community) and not about systemic change, I'm hopeful that I'll ultimately be proved wrong.
