Here, have some nice risk-free debt on us

I recently finished paying off a student loan I'd been chipping away at for years. It felt good, but not very--it was just the first of several; I'd prioritized it because of the obscenely high interest rates. So I was glad to hear that the president is pushing to get rid of the middleman banks in federally guaranteed student loans--a pretty straightforward tax-dollar giveaway, useless (or worse) to actual students who need the aid, and a program that's seen some recent scandal.

I still owe thousands to Sallie Mae. Lousy bums.

  1. Congratulations!

Its always nice to have one less person with first dibs on the paycheck. Even if 10 others scramble for position at the front of the line.
